News release NBPD, On July 2, 2018 at approximately 3:26 AM North Bend Police Department, North Bend
Fire Department and Bay Cities Ambulance responded to a single vehicle accident at 2495 Broadway Ave in North Bend, the business of Color Tile. A vehicle traveling north bound on Broadway left the roadway striking and shearing a telephone pole, then coming to a stop in the southwest corner of the Color Tile building. The vehicle was identified as a 2003 Toyota Sequoia SUV. In addition to providing medical care on scene, the North Bend Fire Department used their “Jaws of Life” to extricate the passengers from the vehicle. There were 5 occupants of the vehicle including the driver, 18-year-old Tyler Kirkpatrick of Myrtle Point. The occupants of the vehicle range in age from 14 to 18 years old, all of Coos County. All occupants were transported to Bay Area Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash, and 3 were later transported by life flight to an advanced Trauma Center. This investigation is continuing and anyone with information is asked to please contact the North Bend Police Department (541)756-3161×1.  According to an entry on the NBPD log for 3:26 a.m., 2400 block Broadway Ave., “multiple reports of vehicle vs. bldg / down power pole & lines,” passengers included 14-year old female, Coos  Bay; 18-year old male Coquille; 17-year old male, Coos Bay; 15-year old female, North Bend, and the driver 18-year old Tyler J. Kirkpatrick, Myrtle Pt.
