City of North Bend release – North Bend City Parks recently set up a temporary disc golf course in Ferry Road Park. Over the past few months, the City of North Bend has received public input on whether disc golf should co-exist at Ferry Road Park. Disc golf is a flying disc sport where players throw a disc at a target; it is played using rules similar to golf. It is usually played on a course with 9 or 18 holes. City Administrator David Milliron at the January 26th City Council meeting informed the Governing Body that he had authorized the Parks Department to test pilot the new course with donated equipment at Ferry Road Park through the winter months. Staff will report their findings to the Council-appointed advisory Parks Committee, which has been charged by the Governing Body to further research the project and make recommendations. The Parks Department thought out of the box by creating concrete bases for the baskets that could easily be removed without any land disturbance should the pilot prove unsuccessful.
