In Oregon, 1 in 3 people volunteer time in the community. Do you know one of them? If so, there is still time to submit a nomination to recognize a person or program making a positive difference in Oregon through volunteerism. The annual Governor’s Volunteer Awards recognize individuals or duos, volunteer programs and groups for their volunteer efforts. The awards honor some of Oregon’s most dedicated individuals and organizations for their commitment to voluntary service benefiting the state and its people. The awards are conducted by the Oregon Volunteers Commission for Voluntary Action and Service, with presenting sponsor Wells Fargo. The deadline to submit nominations is 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25. Winners of the awards will be recognized at the annual Governor’s Volunteer Awards Luncheon, held Thursday, April 24, 2014, at the Salem Conference Center. A cash award of up to $500 will be given by Wells Fargo to a nonprofit of choice for each award recipient. All nominees will receive a certificate signed by the governor.
