CBFD release – COOS BAY, April 22, 2023 – Three Rivers Casino at 1297 Ocean Boulevard was evacuated Saturday afternoon. Casino staff called 911 just before 1:30 p.m. reporting smoke from an unknown source. Casino staff evacuated patrons, while the Coos Bay Fire Department responded to investigate. When firefighters arrived, they found light smoke and a strong odor inside the casino gaming floor and offices. Firefighters were able to determine the source of the smoke was from a failed HVAC unit on the roof. A HVAC contractor was called and the faulty unit was isolated allowing the casino to open back up within an hour.
