Thunderstorms in South Central Oregon, Aug. 14

NWS release – Moisture will work its way to areas of northern California and southern Oregon. This moisture will combine with a few shortwave disturbances to bring a slight chance for thunderstorms with an LAL 2 to a wide area Tuesday and Wednesday. The best chances for thunderstorms on Tuesday will occur across southeastern Modoc and Lake Counties, but will spread both northward and westward by Wednesday afternoon. Although some thunderstorms will see some precipitation with them, quite a few–especially those occurring Tuesday night–will be dry thunderstorms with an LAL 6. Any thunderstorms that move over new existing fires could produce gusty, erratic winds which could create problems for fire crews.
