Oregon’s Governor Kate Brown and State Senator Arnie Roblan attended the grand opening ceremony at the new Tillamook Creamery attraction on the North Oregon Coast Tuesday, June 19.  The following day, the new 38,500 square foot facility opened to the public.  The center reportedly attracts 1.3 million visitors annually.  The Creamery opened in 1949.  A visitor’s center was added in 1979.  It was expanded in 1985 to help accommodate annual crowds of 600,000.  The visitor attraction is not the only change at the Creamery.  Most of its packing jobs have been transferred to plants in Idaho and Utah.  The Tillamook Creamery offers visitors history, production views, samples and many other locally produced dairy products from the North Coast.
