The Coos Co. Board of Commissioners will tip-toe into a situation that is growing concern locally, homelessness. Bastendorff Beach, although under the management of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), the county has a park overlooking the popular beach and entrance to the Coos Bay Channel. On Tuesday, Dec. 2, 6-8 p.m., the Board of Commissioners will hold a Town Hall meeting on “Bastendorff Beach Issues.” The meeting will take place at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology Dining Hall in Charleston. According to a news release from the County, the meeting has been called “in order to discuss the impact of recent issues at Bastendorff Beach including public safety, homeless camping and illegal dumping.”
