Tracking Down a Hit & Run Driver, Nov. 22

On Saturday, November 19, 2016, around 5:16 PM, Douglas County 911 received a report of a single vehicle crash into a telephone pole in the 500-block of Melrose Road in Roseburg. Deputies arrived on scene to find power lines which were partially down and learned the driver had left the scene of the crash. A passenger from the vehicle was still on scene and was not reporting any injuries.  A Sheriff’s Office K9 unit responded to assist the initial responding deputies. K9 Grim successfully tracked the driver who was hiding under the Melrose Bridge. The driver was identified as 25 year old David Dubois of Roseburg.  Dubois was taken into custody without incident. He was lodged at the Douglas County Jail for DUII, Reckless Endangering, Driving While Suspended-Misdemeanor and Failure to Perform the Duties of a Driver-Misdemeanor.
