Coos Bay Public Works Department is advising motorists there will be tree removal work on Commercial and Anderson Avenues Thursday, October 9th. One tree is located in front of the World Newspaper that has been deemed dangerous. Work on this tree will begin with crews setting up a detour on Commercial Avenue, and the saw work starting at 7:00 a.m. Commercial Avenue will be closed for a brief time when the tree is felled, and then will open to one lane while the contractor cuts up and removes the tree. They expect to have all work on this site completed by 9:30 a.m. Crews will then shut down one lane of Anderson Avenue to remove two trees between 7th and 5th Streets. The closure will begin at Central and 8th and will end at 5th Street. There will be a brief closure of both lanes that will be controlled by City flaggers while these trees are dropped. The job is scheduled to be completed by 1:00 p.m. October 9th. Motorists are encouraged to use caution and reduce speeds through the construction area.
