A recreational fisherman out of Charleston Monday, June 26, reportedly caught one of the first sport-caught Albacore Tuna of the 2017 Summer Season.  The first honor actually goes to a team out of Ilwaco, WA which landed about a half-a-dozen Tuna 50-miles northwest of the Columbia River Bar.  Mike Colbach, skipper of the Shake N Bake, reported the first Tuna caught weighed in at 31.8 lbs.  The Charleston catch was about 60-miles northwest of port in the lobe of warmer, clear, blue water.  That lobe is expected to move closer to the Coast within the next few weeks giving fishermen from Brookings to Astoria opportunities to catch Tuna.
