Hwy. 34 Fatal, Linn Co.
On Saturday, January 29, 2022 at approximately 10:06 AM, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a two-vehicle crash that occurred in the intersection of Highway 34 and Seven Mile Lane. Preliminary investigation revealed a Dodge Sprinter van, operated by Joshua Kumpe (32) of Lebanon, was westbound on Hwy 34 and struck a southbound Ford Escort, operated by David Weis (43) of Albany, that was in the intersection. Weis sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. A passenger in the Ford Escort, Kristina Boswell (36) of Sweet Home, was transported to an area hospital with injuries. Kumpe was not injured.

On Sunday, January 30, 2022, at approximately 7:42 PM, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Hwy 34 near milepost 16 west of Denney School Road. Preliminary investigation revealed a pedestrian, identified as Lanny R. Aerni (71) of Lebanon, was in the lanes of travel when he was struck by a westbound white Chevrolet Astro Van, operated by Colby D. Montigue (22) of Sweet Home. Aerni was collecting debris from the roadway at the time of the crash. Aerni sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.
