Two Vehicle Accident, Sept. 10

On September 7, 2015 at about 2:30PM, OSP Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a two vehicle collision on Highway 18 near milepost 12 (east of Lincoln City). Preliminary information indicates a 1990 Geo Prizm was traveling eastbound on Highway 18 when it crossed over into the westbound lanes. The Geo collided with a westbound 2000 Ford Expedition which subsequently lost control, left the roadway and rolled over. The driver of the Ford, Laurie E ALTIG, age 57, of Portland, was taken by ground ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland for non-life threatening injuries. A passenger in the Ford, Reese ALTIG, age 10, of Portland, was ejected from the vehicle and was critically injured. He was taken by air ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center for those injuries. The driver of the Geo, Elliot E THOMPSON, age 21, of Aumsville, was transported by ground ambulance to a Salem area hospital for non-life threatening injuries. During the crash, ALTIG’s dog fled the scene but was located by family the next day.
