ODOT release – Most of work is scheduled at night through July – SALEM— A project that will repair the deteriorating deck of the South Yamhill River Overflow Bridge on OR 18 in southeast McMinnville begins early this month and will include two full 24-hour weekend closures. While most of the work will be done at night, the bridge will need to be closed on July 17-20 and July 24-27. Most of the work will be done within the weekend closures. There will be a few nights of work with single lane closures ahead of and behind the closure dates.  Most of the work to repair the deck will be done in the evenings, Sunday night through Friday morning, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Travelers should expect lane closures, noise and delays with flaggers controlling two-way traffic. The two full weekend closures are scheduled for July 17-20 and July 24-27 with the road closed beginning on Fridays at 7 p.m. and re-opening on Mondays at 5 a.m. Work during the closure will be done day and night – 24 hours. This section of OR 18 is also referred to as the McMinnvillle Bypass. On the average, around 17,000 vehicles use the road each day. Variable message signs will be placed in various locations around McMinnville reminding travelers of the delays, the two full weekend closures and potential detours. Travelers need to plan ahead by avoiding the area, using alternative routes or leaving extra travel time for delays. A lane will be available for passage of emergency vehicles, bikes and pedestrians through the closure.
