On August 4, 2019, Coos Bay Police Officers were patrolling the downtown area, when they observed a suspicious vehicle turn into the area of Thomas and Sons Distributors, 840 S Front St. Officers lost sight of the vehicle and searched the area. Officers located the vehicle stuck on the train tracks near Golden Avenue off Hwy 101, unoccupied. The vehicle was determined to be stolen out of Washington. Coos County Sheriff’s Sgt. Slater and canine Odin responded to track the occupants of the vehicle. Canine Odin tracked the subjects to the area of Marshfield High School. The four occupants of the vehicle were found hiding under the Harding Stairs and were all taken into custody. The operator, Sean Brady, 18 years old of Olympia Washington, was taken into custody for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. The three juvenile passengers were also taken into custody for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. Brady was transported and lodged at the Coos County Jail. The three juveniles were transported and lodged at juvenile detention in Roseburg.
