Oregon Employment Dept. report – Unemployment in Oregon hit 7.7% in August according to figures released by the Oregon Employment Dept. That compares with 4.7% in August 2019 and 5.1% in 2018. In Curry Co., 9.0% unemployed during August. That compares with 5.0% last year and 5.7% the previous year. In Douglas Co., 7.3% were jobless in August, up from 4.8% in 2019, and 5.1% in 2018. Overall for the State, 7.7% unemployed last month, up from 3.6% the previous year and 4.0% in August 2018.
