Unemployment Rate, April 4

The unemployment rate on the South Coast improved between January and February according to figures released by the Oregon Employment Dept. In Coos Co., the jobless rate in February was a seasonally adjusted 6.2%, better than the 6.5% in January, and far below the 7.8% in February of 2015. In Curry Co., the unemployment rate in February was 7.1%, an improvement from the 7.6% in January and also a full percentage point below the 8.8% in February of last year. Oregon’s rate for February was 4.8%, better than the 5.1% in January and a full percentage point less than the 5.8% from last year. The national rate was unchanged from January to February at 4.9%.
