The unemployment rate for the five complete counties along the Oregon Coast in September was slightly less than the figures released for August, and either the same or slightly better than the year before, according to a report from the Oregon Employment Dept. Coos Co. – The jobless rate in Sept. was 8.8%, down from the 8.9% in Aug. and less than the 9.6% in Sept. 2013. Curry Co. – Still in double digits for Sept. at 10.5%, but that was down two-tenths of a percent from the 10.5% in Aug., and the same as the previous year at 10.5%. Lincoln Co. – The rate in the Central Coast county was 7.6% in Sept., the same as the prior month, but less than 7.9% in Sept. of last year. Tillamook Co. – The 6.4% rate in Sept. was the same as Aug., but less than the 7.0% recorded in 2013. Clatsop Co. – Continues to have the best rate on the coast at 6.0% unemployed in Sept., down slightly from the 6.1% in August, and less than the 6.5% from last year.
