The unemployment rates for the five complete counties along the Oregon Coast for the month of June was slightly better than the previous month according to figures released by the Oregon Employment Dept. Four of the five counties also continued a trend of a jobless rate lower than the previous year. Coos Co., the rate was 8.9% for June, two-tenths of a percent better than the 9.1% in May, and a full point less than the 9.9% recorded in June 2013. Curry Co., June’s rate was 10.7%, one-tenth less than the 10.8% in May, but a tenth of a percent higher than the 10.6% from June of last year. The rate continues to get better on the Central and North Coasts. Lincoln Co., the jobless rate in June was 7.5%, down from the 7.6% in May, and less than the 8.3% from June of 2013. Tillamook Co., the June rate was 6.4%, down from 6.5% in May, and less than the 7.3% from a year ago. Clatsop Co. continues to have the best rate on the Coast with a 6.0 recorded in June, down from 6.1% in May and a 6.9% from June 2013. Both Lane and Douglas counties coastal rates are combined with their larger metropolitan communities in the valley.
