On Thursday, September 10, at 6:00 pm, the first meeting of the Unlimited Book Club will take place on Zoom. The Unlimited Book Club is a joint venture of the Coos History Museum, the Coos Bay Public Library, and the North Bend Public Library, and was formed to encourage awareness and foster community discussions on equity, diversity, and inclusion through reading and thoughtful conversation. The first meeting will be an opportunity for the members to meet and discuss the group’s purpose and ground rules and to decide on some titles. The first title, selected by the organizers, is When They Call You a Terrorist : a Black Lives Matter Memoir by Patrisse Khan-Cullors and Asha Bandele. Suggestions for future readings will come from book club members. Registration is free. Those who are interested but uncertain if this club is what they’re looking for are invited to attend the first meeting, as there is no obligation to stay. To join, please go to https://tinyurl.com/y63w4r35 or call 541-756-6320 x216, or email education@cooshistory.org. After signing up, participants will be sent the address for the Zoom meeting.
