The Oregon soccer team fell behind early before notching its first goal of the 2017 season in a 4-1 loss to North Carolina State on Friday before 602 fans at Papé Field, in Eugene. How It Happened: The Ducks (0-1) had a chance to open the scoring in the fifth minute when Kyra Fawcett looked to touch home a crossing pass, but a defender was able to deflect the ball over the goal before it reached Fawcett. The game didn’t remain scoreless for long, as Paige Griffiths gave North Carolina State a 1-0 lead a minute later. The Wolfpack (1-0) made it a two-goal lead in the 26th minute when Kristina Schuster found the back of the net. The lead was 3-0 before the Ducks got on the board, in the 67th minute when Brianne Parsons finished a low cross on assists from Mia Costa and Sofia Chambers. North Carolina State closed out the scoring in the 85th minute.

The Oregon women’s soccer team recorded its first win of the 2017 season Sunday, 2-0 over Kansas State before 404 fans at Papé Field. The Ducks bounced back from their loss Friday to North Carolina State, defeating a Wildcats team in its second season of competition. How It Happened: Marissa Everett lead the Ducks (1-1) by scoring both goals, in the 26th and 49th minute, respectively.  Oregon finishes the  opening weekend at .500 and is confident heading into a week of preparation before visiting College Station, Texas, to play a ranked Texas A&M side.
