The City of North Bend will have an election for the positions of Mayor and three City Councilors to be held on November 4, 2014.  Interested citizens may obtain information and file with the City Elections Officer at the North Bend City Hall located at 835 California Ave., North Bend or call 541-756-8500 Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. beginning Tuesday, June 25, 2014, through August  8, 2014. Candidates filing by petition deadlines are as follows: August 20, 2014 with Coos County Elections for signature verification; August 26, 2014 with City Recorder/Elections Officer for completion of the filing process.  To qualify, a citizen must be a registered voter and must have resided within the City of North Bend for at least one year preceding the election date.  The following are the requirements and items of importance for a prospective candidate.  It is the candidate’s responsibility to obtain the specific information from the Secretary of State’s website http://oregonvotes.org/ or by calling 1-866-673-VOTE.  General Election:   November 4, 2014.  There are three City Council positions open for four-year terms, and the Mayor position is open for a two-year term.  Qualifications:  Chapters 6 and 7 of the City Charter outlines the qualifications to serve as an elected official and are available online at http://northbendcity.org/pdf/Charter-of-the-City-of-North-Bend-Oregon.pdf  Deadlines:  Candidates signature sheets should be filed with Coos County Elections by August 20, 2014 to allow ample time for signature verifications.  Candidate completion of filing requirements must be submitted to the City of North Bend’s Elections Official located in the City Recorder’s Office at City Hall, 835 California, North Bend by 5:00 p.m. August 26, 2014.
