News release from CBPD. In the afternoon of 02-12-15 a male came to the Coos Bay Police Department stating he believed the person reported in the earlier press release was him. The man advised he was helping a friend in the general area of Madison Elementary School when something obviously scared her and she ran away as if she was scared. The man advised neither he nor his friend said anything to the girl. The vehicle the male was in closely matched the described vehicle. Based on the description of events given by the man to the Coos Bay Police Department, it appears very likely he and his passenger were the people described in the earlier press release. At this time there is no evidence the man is part of a continuing threat to area children. Continued vigilance by children and parents is highly encouraged.
