Vehicle in Creek, June 20

Rock Creek Rd., CCSO report – On 06-17-2018 at 7:36 pm, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an injury accident at mile post 2.5 on Rock Creek Road outside of Bridge near milepost 41 on Highway 42. The initial call was about a vehicle over an embankment into the creek. Rock Creek Road is a paved Bureau of Land Management Road that is used primarily for logging access to private timberlands and recreation for campers and hunters. When the deputy arrived he observed a vehicle was upside down in the creek about 30 to 40 feet from the roadway over a steep embankment. People on scene told the deputy the driver, 32 year old Myrtle Point resident, 32-year old Cody Reynolds, Myrtle Pt., was possibly intoxicated. Prior to the deputy’s arrival all of the occupants from the vehicle had been transported by ambulance to medical facilities. There had been two small children, both toddlers (ages 1 & 2), who were said to have been under water for an unknown period of time inside the car. The children were initially taken to Coquille Valley Hospital, entered into the trauma system and later flown to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland. The mother of the two children, 37-year old Charlotte McNamara, Myrtle Pt., was reported to be uninjured. The latest news of the two children is reported to be good. Coos Counties Crash Team was activated and members from the Oregon State Police, Coquille Police, North Bend Police, the Coos County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Coos Counties District Attorney’s Office assisted in the investigation. The CRASH Team is a multi agency team which is headed by the District Attorney’s Office. This team responds to crashes where criminal charges may be applicable. The driver, Cody Reynolds, has been cooperative with the investigation regarding the crime of Driving under the Influence of Intoxicants. The vehicle, a small Honda passenger vehicle, was removed from Rock Creek by Mast Bros Towing Service. The specific cause of the crash is still under investigation.
