Lane Co. SO release – LCSO Case #23-5619 On October 24th, 2023, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office and Lane Fire Authority responded to the Veneta Chamber of Commerce for the report of a possible Arson. During the investigation, Deputies learned that a male walked into the location, interacted with employees, and then intentionally set the location on fire before fleeing. Deputies contacted the suspect, identified as David Houston, attempting to start another fire nearby. Houston was arrested and lodged at the Lane County Jail. He is being held on the charges of Arson 1 and two counts of Reckless Endangering.
