Walk, jog or run to fight pancreatic cancer, May 29

Southwestern Oregon Community College hosts the Third Annual Bear Claw’s 5K walk, jog or run on Saturday, May 30. The event begins at 9 a.m. with registration in the center of campus at the Henry Hansen Union Square, 1988 Newmark Ave., Coos Bay. The 5k starts at 10 a.m. The event is an opportunity for students, faculty and community members to gather to raise awareness for pancreatic cancer, and to promote health and fitness in the community. This year, the 5k event will add a Health Fair. Courtesy of SWOCC’s chapter of the American Association for Women in Community Colleges, fresh fruit will be provided for the walkers, joggers and runners. Mini bear claw pastries donated by Oregon Coast Culinary Institute will be waiting for all who complete. Participation is free, with a $5 suggested donation.
