Bastendorff Beach, CCSO release – On June 14, 2019, at approximately 3:46 PM, A Coos County Sheriff’s Deputy was notified of suspicious conditions on Bastendorff Beach in Coos Bay. It was reported three individuals were using drugs next to a fire on the beach. When the Deputy arrived, he discovered the individuals were burning on the beach but found no evidence of any drugs. All parties were warned for burning during fire season and made to put out the fire. The Deputy initiated a recoreds check for all individuals through Dispatch and was informed 49 year old Garold Hurley had an outstanding warrant out of Malhuer County, Oregon for theft in the second degree. Garold was detained on site. Dispatch informed the Deputy they had confirmation from Malhuer County and Malhuer County wished to extradite Garold. Subsequently, Garold was arrested on his active warrant and transported to the Coos County Jail. Gerold will be held for the crime of theft in the second degree pending extradition to Malhuer County, Oregon.
