CCSO release – Date / Time: May 23rd, 2023, at 7:14 a.m.; Case Number(s): S23-11548; Classification: Warrant Arrest; Location: Cascade Lane and Everest Road; Suspect(s): Marie Williams (34). Traffic stop leads to Coos County woman’s arrest on multiple warrants. On May 23rd, 2023 around 7:14 AM, Deputy Z. Smith observed a purple early 90’s Ford Ranger drive through a stop sign on Libby Lane in Coos Bay without stopping. Deputy Smith activated his patrol vehicle’s lights and pulled the driver of the vehicle over after turning onto Cascade Lane and Everest Road. While making contact with the driver, Deputy Smith recognized the passenger of the vehicle as Marie Williams of Bandon Oregon. Neither the driver nor Williams was wearing their seatbelts. During the traffic stop, Coos County Dispatch advised Deputy Smith that Williams had (2) outstanding warrants for her arrest. Dispatch confirmed one local Coos County warrant and one warrant from Linn County. Both the driver and Williams were cited for failure to wear a seatbelt, and Williams was transported to the Coos County Jail where she was booked and lodged. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public to always wear their seatbelt and always come to a complete stop at a stop sign. These seemingly small laws are in place for your safety and the safety of those sharing the road with you.
