WATERFALL COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER ANNOUNCES POWERS CLINIC CLOSURE

North Bend, OR—Waterfall Community Health Center, a not-for-profit provider whose mission is to
serve underserved populations in Coos County, Oregon, will be closing its Powers Clinic on June 30,
2018.

Waterfall Community Health Center CEO, Andrea Trenner states, “This was an extremely difficult
decision, and we’re very disappointed to be closing the Powers Clinic. We tried incredibly hard to
sustainably serve the Powers community, and closing the clinic was our last resort.”

Waterfall Community Health Center opened the Powers Clinic as a school-based health center five years
ago. During that time the clinic experienced low demand for services, particularly among students, who
were a primary focus of the clinic’s mission. Visits for both medical services and mental health services
were low, with the clinic seeing no patients at all on some days.

Efforts to better serve the community included outreach to raise awareness of services available,
changing the care options available, and reducing hours to meet current demand. After exhausting its
options, Waterfall Community Health Center determined that the best approach for meeting its mission
and providing comprehensive medical care across the Southern Oregon Coast was to shift operational
resources to other locations and close the Powers Clinic.

“Continuity of care and a smooth transition for our patients to new providers is our top priority now,”
stated Trenner. “We are working individually with every patient to help them identify and choose the
most appropriate option for their ongoing care, whether that’s at our other clinic locations in North
Bend or Coos Bay or with other providers in the region.”

Waterfall Community Health Center providers will continue to see Powers Clinic patients at its Powers
location until June 30. Patients can contact 541-435-7004 with any questions.

Continued Trenner, “We want to make the transition as seamless as possible and encourage our
patients to reach out to us for assistance. We value the health and wellbeing of the Powers community,
and it has been a great pleasure serving its health care needs over the years.”

Waterfall Community Health Center is a not-for-profit, patient-centered provider, dedicated to serving
low-income, medically uninsured, medically disenfranchised, and other vulnerable populations in Coos
County, Oregon.
