Manga Club at CBPL
Geek out on your favorite anime or manga, watch anime, draw, and create cosplay accessories or fan art at Manga Madness at the Coos Bay Public Library. The program, limited to teens ages 12-18, will be held the second Tuesday of the month this winter (January 12, February 9, and March 9) from 4:00pm to 5:00pm. The Coos Bay Public Library has a robust collection of manga and anime for all ages available for checkout at www.coosbaylibrary.org. COMMUNITY YOGA with Kelli Bosak
Coos Bay Public Library, in partnership with yoga instructor, Kelli Bosak, will co-host Community Yoga. Kelli has been practicing yoga and mindfulness for over 15 years. She has taught Yoga in community health centers, schools, and jails for adults and families with all levels of experience and abilities over the last 7 years. We meet every 2nd Wednesday of the month at 6:00pm. Next class: Wednesday, January 12
This virtual Community Yoga Class will be a foundational group practice that includes guided instruction (and live demonstration via zoom) of basic postures, simple movements guided by the breath, and accessible exercises to build strength and flexibility. Ease of movement, standing postures, supported postures, and some passive stretches will be integrated into class. Time will be given to practice breathwork, visualization and meditation. Emphasis is placed on de-stressing the body and mind to help the student find a deep calm and inner sense of wellbeing. This FREE class is appropriate for all levels. Healthcare Hiring Event
City of North Bend release – The City is partnering with the Oregon Employment Department for a healthcare hiring event. The participants are Bay Area Hospital, North Bend Medical Center, Lower Umpqua Hospital, Bay Clinic, Coast Community Health, Southwestern Oregon Community College, and SOWIB Medical Assistant Apprenticeship. And, more are being added every day! The Oregon Healthcare Heroes Recruitment Day will be on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the North Bend Community Center, 2222 Broadway Avenue.

Committee for Family Forestlands
ODF release – SALEM, Ore. — The Committee for Family Forestlands will meet virtually Wednesday, Jan. 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. To join the virtual meeting, please use the Zoom video conference information found on the agenda. The committee’s agenda includes: Forest Resources Division update; Operator of the Year; Legislative update; Roundtable update; State forester/board chair; Work plan discussion. The meeting is open to the public to attend online via Zoom. Public comments will be accepted near the start of the meeting. Requests for an interpreter for the hearing impaired or other accommodations for persons with disabilities should be made at least 72 hours before the meeting by contacting Susan Muniz at 503-945-7502. The 13-member committee researches policies that affect family forests, natural resources and forestry benefits. Transportation Safety Committee to meet Jan. 12
ODOT release – SALEM — The Oregon Transportation Safety Committee will meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, via teleconference. Directions for joining the meeting are available on the agenda. The committee will hear updates from the Highway Safety Engineering Committee, ODOT Region 4 (Central Oregon) and the Traffic Records Program. The OTSC advises the Oregon Transportation Commission and ODOT on issues, policies and programs that affect transportation safety in Oregon. OTSC meetings are open to the public. You may submit comments to the committee by sending them to Brandy.Anderson-Gillock@odot.oregon.gov. The next meeting of the OTSC is scheduled for Feb. 9.
