The carcass of a deceased Grey Whale washed up on a beach south of Florence in Western Lane County, Friday, April 10. It was first spotted Wednesday in the Siuslaw River, but washed back out to sea with the outgoing tide and washed up on an ocean beach south of the City. Oregon State Parks & Recreation officials were quick to tell Oregonians not go to the beach to see the whale. The concern is over the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Chris Havel with State Parks urges everyone to just stay home. Photos and videos of the whale can be found on the Internet.
