News release CFPA.  Firefighters from Coos Forest Protective Association (CFPA) responded to a fire in the Sixes River drainage around 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1. Firefighters arrived on-scene to find two fires burning along the Eckley Ridge Road. With the assistance of three helicopters and a retardant plane along with several fire engines and handcrews as well as two logging industry water tenders the fires were extinguished quickly at about ½ acre. The fire was human caused and is under investigation. This fire is a reminder that fire danger conditions are high and the public needs to follow fire prevention requirements when they are out enjoying the outdoors. If you are planning on going out into the forests you need to follow public use restrictions as well as any requirements that private landowners require on their lands. For more information on fire prevention restrictions and closures you can look on the web at www.coosfpa.net, call the closure line at (541) 267-1789 or follow us on Facebook or Twitter.
