ODFW and Oregon State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine will co-host the 2014 Wildlife Rehabilitation Conference on Saturday, April 5, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at LaSells Stewart Conference Center, Oregon State University, Corvallis. Licensed wildlife rehabilitators and others interested in wildlife rehabilitation are welcome to attend. Rehabilitators will receive 5.5 hours of continuing education credits for attending. The event is free but pre-registration is required. The following speakers are expected: •Bethany Grove, Wildlife Veterinarian, PAWS, Lynnwood, Wash. Presenting: Challenges of Rehabbing Deer and Other Mammal Tips •Rebecca Duerr, Veterinarian, International Bird Rescue, California; Presenting: Avian Fluid Therapy and Fracture Management •Kelly Flaminio, Associate Veterinarian, VCA East Mill Plain Veterinary Hospital, Vancouver, Wash.; Presenting: Ulcerative Shell Disease in Western Pond Turtles and other reptile rehab tips. Oregon’s licensed wildlife rehabilitators care for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife. They are permitted by ODFW and governed by a set of rules designed to ensure that wildlife receive good care and are returned to the wild when possible.
