CFPA release – Coos Forest Protective Association (CFPA) reminds people that burning in the wind is a dangerous combination. The weather has been moderate for our area so far. June normally comes with high winds. Southern Oregon is at the time of year where small debris piles that will burn up completely in a day are safe to burn. Large piles, such as ones that have been built with machinery, that are going to hold heat for days or weeks are not a good idea to burn just ahead of summer, these piles are best left for the fall and winter times when rainy conditions are back. High winds are one of the leading causes of escaped debris burns. CFPA encourages people to finish cleaning up their property responsibly before fire season gets here.
