On December 21, 2015 at about 4PM, OSP Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a multiple vehicle crash on Highway 99W near milepost 41 (two miles south of McMinnville). Preliminary information indicates a 2010 Ford Flex was traveling southbound on Highway 99W, when for unknown reasons crossed the center line striking a northbound 2007 Toyota Yaris head-on. A third vehicle, a 1999 Subaru Forester, was traveling northbound behind the Toyota and was unable to stop after the collision and struck the Ford. The driver of the Toyota, Kristyanne B DEVRIES, age 65, of Amity, was critically injured and taken to Willamette Valley Medical Center in McMinnville. She was subsequently transported to Oregon Health and Sciences University where she died from her injuries. The driver of the Ford, Terrence L CHITWOOD, age 67, and his passenger, Doris M CHITWOOD, age 66 (both from Amity) were taken to Willamette Valley Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. The driver of the Subaru, Michael J MILLER, age 37 and his passenger, Lindsey R PATTERSON, age 34 (both of Corvallis) were taken to Salem Hospital with minor injuries. Highway 99W was closed for over three hours while the investigation was conducted. OSP was assisted by the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office, McMinnville Fire and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
