Zonta Celebrates International Women’s Day By Honoring Local Volunteers, March 17

On Saturday, March 8th, the Zonta Club of the Coos Bay Area sponsored a brunch to recognize Outstanding Women of Service in our community.  Women were selected from service organizations throughout the Bay Area.  The morning’s celebration included a musical rendition of “Not Just a Pretty Face” sung by Lydia Shaffer-Casas and an inspirational keynote address from former State Senator Joanne Verger speaking on the importance of volunteerism in our community.  The event was held at Black Market Gourmet.  “March 8th is a special day for our Zonta service organization,” explained Terri Turi, the event organizer.  “We chose to celebrate International Women’s Day this year by honoring women who really demonstrate their commitment to making this community a better place to live.”  s to these Outstanding Women of Service for their outstanding leadership and tireless volunteerism:  Donna Penny – Coos Bay Lions Club; Judy Moody – Bay Area Rotary Club; Margaret Melvin – Zonta Club of the Coos Bay Area; Kim Davidson – Soroptimists of Coos Bay; Stephanie Kilmer – Coos Bay-North Bend Rotary Club; Dana Webber – North Bend Kiwanis Club; Sharon Teyler – Sunrise Rotary Club.
