Zonta Club Awards Community Grants, Dec. 25

North Bend- December 20, 2019 – The Zonta Club of the Coos Bay Area ended their program year with the award of 8 community grants totaling $16,300.00 to local nonprofit organizations to help with projects supporting the health, education or improving conditions for local women and girls. Recipients are Coos County Friends of Public Health, Coos Cares Transitional Housing, Court Appointed Special Advocates, North Bend School Foundation – STEM, Tioga Community Health Foundation, Harmony United Methodist Church Snack Pack program, The SAFE Project, and the American Cancer Society. Zonta awards grants annually to discreet projects undertaken locally that further its mission. It raises money to fund its own programs, scholarships to support higher education, Little Red School House to purchase school supplies for low income students and the community grants program at the annual celebrity dinner fundraiser, scheduled next year for February 29, 2020. Theme is Zonta’s Celebrity Prom – Leap Back in Time. The mission of Zonta International is to improve the legal, economic, health, educational, and professional status of women world-wide through service and advocacy.
