News release BACC – The Bay Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC), after a thorough review of the proposal, has voted to support Statewide Measure 102 and urges all County voters to approve this statewide constitutional amendment to help local communities build affordable housing, by voting yes. The amendment would lift the current ban on the ability of local governments to work with non-profits and local businesses to build affordable housing with bonds. This small change means local housing bond dollars can go farther without added cost to the taxpayer, while helping communities address the need for homes that people can afford. The measure provides for local control as the bonds must be approved by local voters and describe the affordable housing being financed. The Oregon legislators voted almost unanimously to refer this constitutional amendment to voters. The amendment is a sensible, bipartisan solution to help local communities create more affordable housing, throughout Oregon, for families, seniors, veterans and people with disabilities. We urge you to vote YES on Statewide Measure 102. The Bay Area Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit, professional business organization made up of the Coos Bay, North Bend, and Charleston communities. The Chamber works for a healthy economic climate of good jobs, more customers and efficient government. The Chamber’s strength lies in the number and diversity of its membership.
