Erosion within the City of Brookings watershed is the focus of a $30,000 state grant awarded by the Oregon Business Development Department to evaluate the impacts of the Chetco Bar Fire on the city’s water supply.  The Bureau of Land Management issued a report that says sediment in the north fork of the Chetco could increase by 900-percent.  The wildfire consumed about 70-percent of the watershed.  City officials say they will use the money to assess the quality of the water and potential impacts.
