Multi Agency Saturation
CCSO release – Location: Coos County – Narrative: On October 9th, 2019 between the hours of 5pm and approximately 7pm, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office along with the Coos Bay Police Department, North Bend Police Department and the Oregon State Police assisted Coos County Community Corrections with a saturation.
The saturation was put in place to locate individuals that had warrants and/or were detainable through Coos County Community Corrections. Approximately 20 residences were visited and approximately 60 people were contacted in total. There were approximately 15 Law Enforcement Officers and 6 PO’s dedicated to this saturation. The following individuals were arrested: -31 year old Darci Tymn for two outstanding warrants; -32 year old Amanda Pence for a Probation Violation; -25 year old Donald Bignell for a parole violation and Coos Bay Police Department had probable cause out for his arrest; -39 year old Janet Austin-Lincoln for a Probation Violation; -46 year old Garnet Stewart-Gebhart for a Probation Violation; -39 year old Tina Schmidt for a warrant; -26 year old Jacob Rhyner for multiple warrants; The Coos County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Coos County Community Corrections, Oregon State Police, Coos Bay Police Department, and the North Bend Police Department for their continued teamwork effort to keep the community safe.

DUII/Attempt to Elude
Green Acres Ln., CCSO release – Narrative: On 10/09/19 at about 10:26 PM, Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Green Acres Lane in Coos Bay for a report of a disturbance. The reporting party said a subject she knew as 35 year old Michael Botts was at the residence pushing her sister around. Prior to Deputies arriving on scene, the reporting party called back and told Dispatch the suspect left the location in a grey Dodge Challenger. Deputies located the Challenger. At one point the vehicle attempted to run a Deputy off the road. Deputies attempted to stop the suspect vehicle by affecting a traffic stop with overhead red and blue lights. The suspect turned his headlights and tail lights off and attempted to speed away. The suspect missed the corner at the intersection of Green Acres Lane and Upper Loop Road and drove his vehicle into the Isthmus slough. The vehicle was in several feet of water and after the driver was able to get out of the vehicle, the vehicle sank under the water, to the top of the roof. The driver was confirmed as Michael Edwards Botts. Michael Botts was placed into custody for Attempt to Elude, reckless Driving, DUII, Aggravated Harassment and Harassment. Michael Botts was transported to Bay Area Hospital and later transported to the Coos County Jail where he was booked and lodged on the above mentioned charges.

Unauthorized Use of Vehicle
Charleston, CCSO release – Narrative: On 10/10/19 at about 10:35 PM, a Deputy was patrolling the Charleston area when he observed a suspicious vehicle parked near the “Breakfast Barn,” with two men removing numerous items from the vehicle. The deputy attempted to contact the men, however they fled into a residence near the location. The Deputy conducted a record check of the vehicle revealing it had been stolen out of North Bend during the first week of October. After an investigation, 51 year old Harold J. Thornsberry of Coos Bay was arrested on the charge of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. It should be noted Mr. Thornsberry was one of the initial individuals the Deputy observed around the stolen pick-up and also possessed the key to the stolen pick-up. Mr. Thornsberry was transported to the Coos County Jail where he was booked.
