A single vehicle crash claimed the life of a 23 year-old Grants Pass man Sunday, July 22. At about 3:30 P.M., the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office was contacted regarding Cameron Scott Reese being overdue to his residence after returning from a camping trip. Reese of Grants Pass had been camping near the South Umpqua Falls and had left his campsite around 9:00 A.M. Sunday morning. At approximately 7:30 PM, Reese’s vehicle was located by family members near milepost 8 on South Umpqua Road in Tiller. Deputies arrived to find the vehicle approximately 100 yards over the embankment near the river. Reese was trapped in the vehicle and life saving measures were attempted, but were unsuccessful. Reese was pronounced deceased at the scene.
