News release CCSO.  A high risk warrant was served on October 25, 2017 at 59464 West Beaver Hill Road, Bandon Oregon by Coos County law enforcement in search for a fugitive. The South Coast Interagency Narcotics Team (SCINT) developed information this week regarding the whereabouts of Kevin Lee Marshall, 48 years old of Bandon.  Mr. Marshall had been a fugitive from justice since his conviction in 2015 on assault and weapons charges.  Detectives from SCINT, after gathering the needed information regarding the location of Mr. Marshall, applied for and were granted a search warrant for the West Beaver Hill address.  Because of the nature of the violent offenses Mr. Marshall was convicted of, a request was made to the Coos County Sheriff’s Office to use its Emergency Response Team (ERT). The ERT is a Sheriff’s Office administered multi agency tactical team comprised of members from the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, Coos Bay Police Department and the North Bend Police Department.  This Team has been in operation since 1975 as a tactical unit.  Through the years it has also had scuba dive rescue and high angle rescue squads in it.  Today, it is just a tactical unit.  Uniformed officers from the Coos Bay Police, Oregon State Police, Coquille Tribal Police and Coos Confederated Tribal Police assisted in this operation. In addition to the Sheriff’s Office K-9 ODIN, the Coos Bay Police Department had K-9 DAK on scene to help.  Both dogs were to be deployed in a perimeter role in case Mr. Marshall ran from officers. The ERT conducted a briefing and after forming up at an offsite location executed the search warrant at about 5:43 pm.  The address is located on West Beaver Hill, in an area surrounded by timberland.  The property to be searched was filled with travel trailers, junked cars, dilapidated homes and many persons.  As the two squads of officers, some in full uniform and some in camouflage entered the property boundary, additional uniformed officers and deputies surrounded the property. Multiple persons were contacted in the execution of this arrest warrant.  Mr. Marshall fled from a building on the property and K-9 DAK was brought in to track.  After a short track Mr. Marshall was taken into custody without incident. K-9 DAK is a 5 year old German Shepherd being handled by Officer Chris Krebs, a four and a half year veteran of the Coos Bay Police Department.   Mr. Marshall is the fifth capture for K-9 DAK and Officer Krebs. During the execution of this warrant two law enforcement officers were injured in accidents.  A 2 year veteran Oregon State Police Trooper broke his leg after falling on an incline.  And a 17 year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office sprained his ankle badly maneuvering the property.  Both were transported to Bay Area Hospital after being treated at the scene by the ERT medic, and paramedics from Bay Cities Ambulance.  They were treated and released.  The deputy is expected to return to work on Monday. Kevin Marshall was transported to the Coos County Jail where he is being held on Fail To Appear warrants from 2015 and 2016 which included: ASSAULT II, UNLAWFUL USE 0F WEAP0N, RECKLESSLY ENDANGERING AN0THER PERS0N, MENACING; DELIV 0F METH, Possession of METH, FEL0N IN P0SSESS FIREARM, THEFT I, FREQ PLACE WHERE C0NTR0LLED SUBST USED.  Bail is set at $135,000 and several of the charges have no bail amount.
