Newmark Ave. to Wisconsin Ave. street improvements (Coos Bay) ($5 million). This project will upgrade a one-mile section of Empire Blvd. with new drainage, sidewalks, lighting, and paving. The southbound lane of Empire Blvd. (Cape Arago Highway) is closed between Newmark Ave. and Fulton Ave. until mid-February. Motorists traveling from Coos Bay to Charleston will detour from Newmark onto Marple St. and Fulton Ave. Northbound motorists will remain on Empire Blvd. Elsewhere, motorists should expect congestion and delays of less than 20 minutes through the work zone. Watch for intermittent lane closures. Flaggers will provide traffic control as needed. Access to all local businesses will be maintained during construction. Motorists traveling on Newmark who are headed to businesses in the project area should take the Marple-Fulton detour to Empire Blvd. and turn north.
