Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into an early Sunday morning single vehicle fatal traffic crash near Selma that resulted in the death of a 26-year old Cave Junction man. On August 24, 2014 at approximately 3:00 a.m., a 1999 Ford F250 four-door pickup with five occupants was traveling westbound in the 6000 block of Deer Creek Road. As the pickup negotiated a sharp left curve, its driver lost control and traveled off the highway where it rolled coming to rest on its top. One of the occupants, LEX ALAN JOHNSON, age 26, from Cave Junction, was found underneath the pickup and pronounced deceased at the scene. He was not using safety restraints. The vehicle is registered to his family and the lead investigator says information to this point has identified him as the driver. Another person, LUCAS HARRIS, age 21, was riding in the pickup’s bed and ejected. He was picked up by a private party and taken to Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass with non-life threatening injuries. Three other occupants in the pickup were reportedly not injured. Their names are not available for this release.
