North Bend’s baseball team dropped two on the road Saturday in a pair of non-leagues games to Hidden Valley, south of Grants Pass. The Mustangs took the first game 5-1 and the second 3-1. North Bend (5-2) hosts Philomath this Saturday, 1 p.m.

North Bend suffered its first loss of the 2015 prep softball season Saturday during a non-conference doubleheader at Hidden Valley, south of Grants Pass. The Mustangs won the first game 12-7 and took the second game 10-6. The Bulldogs (6-1) next play at Gold Beach on Thursday.

Medford Relays
Marshfield’s girls were fifth and the Pirate boys tenth in the 17-team Medford Rotary Relays Saturday in Southern Oregon. Grants Pass won the boy’s team title and North Medford took the girls. Junior Sawyer Heckard won the 1500 (4:22.53); the Lady Pirates won the 100H Relay (53.17); Marshfield’s 4X100 Relay (Isabel Groth, Brittany Cook, Adryanna Chavez, Madelyn Metzler) took second (50.52, leads 4A at 50.34); the Lady Pirate 4X200 Relay (Adryana Chavez, Trinity Trentz, Madelyn Metzler, Brittany Cook) also took second (1:50.88); Marshfield’s boys’ Distance Medley Relay Team (Ian Emlet 1200, Cody Harkins 400, John Hampton 800, Sawyer Heckard 1600) placed fourth (11:41.54); junior Hunter Drops won the Javelin (184-09, 2nd best in 4A), the Pole Vault (14-07, best in 4A), and tied for second in the High Jump (6-00, leads 4A at 6-02); senior Adryana Chavez won the Triple Jump (33-08.50). A Far West League JV meet will be held at Florence on Tuesday. The Pirates will next compete at the Jim Robinson’s Invitational at Roseburg Saturday, April 11.

North Bend’s track teams swept the four-team Mr. Bulldog Invite Saturday on Frank Shriver Track in North Bend. The Bulldog boys won with 346 points, Roseburg followed with 113, Klamath Union 110, and Powers 50. The Bulldog girls won with 254 points, Roseburg was second with 159, followed by Klamath Union 150 and Powers 12. The Bulldog boys won all events, while the girls won all but three in the field. A couple of juniors led the boy’s team. Luke Lucero won the 100 (11.72) and Pole Vault (14-06, 2nd best in 4A), while Drae Stark took the 200 (23.95), 110H (15.92), and Triple Jump (42-10, 2nd best in 4A). The two were also on the winning 4X100 Relay team along with seniors Cam Lucero and Drew Matthews (44.62, 2nd best in 4A). Cam Lucero won the Javelin (139-10) and 300H (43.56), while Drew Matthews took the Long Jump (19-01) and was second in the 100 (11.88). Sophomore Michael Brown won both the 1500 (4:20.89) and 3000 (9:27.75). On the girl’s side, junior Alexa Reed won both the 100 (14.00) and 200 (29.47). Junior Gabby Hobson won both the 800 (2:33.60), and the 3,000 (11:29.58). Sophomore Maggie Muenchrath took both hurdle races: 100H (19.57), and 300H (56.86). Reed and Muenchrath also ran on the winning 4X100 Relay team (55.34) with Brianna Cole and Abby Tomlinson. Cole, a junior, also won the Long Jump (15-02), and Triple Jump (31-09). North Bend will send a JV team to the FWL JV meet in Florence Tuesday, while some members of the varsity team heads to the Jim Robinson Invitational on Saturday in Roseburg.
