A three-run homer by junior Khalani Hoyer in the bottom of the third sparked a strong day at the plate for Marshfield as the Lady Pirates turned back Coquille 17-3 in a non-league prep softball game at Coos Head Field in Coos Bay Thursday. Hoyer was 4-for-4 on the day, but senior Katelyn Rossback was also 4-for-4 with five RBIs and scored four runs. Marshfield completes the pre-season with a 5-5 record and will open 4A Far West League play Tuesday, April 14, at home to Brookings-Harbor. Coquille falls to 4-3.
