Tax Evading Coquille Preacher, April 23

A federal judge in Eugene has approved warrants for the arrest of a 71-year old preacher from Coquille after he failed to show up for sentencing charges following a conviction that he and his wife evaded $1.2 million in taxes. Ronald and Dorothea Joling were scheduled to be in court Wednesday morning, April 22, but the two failed to show up. They were convicted last year of Conspiracy to Defraud the Government. Ronald Joling was also convicted of Tax Evasion and Filing False Returns. He stopped paying income taxes in the early 1990s after concluding the tax laws do not apply to him.
