Mitchell Tolman stayed hot and the Oregon baseball team stayed alive, as the Ducks beat Gonzaga 9-4 on Tuesday at PK Park in Eugene to fuel their slim postseason hopes. Tolman’s two-week-long hot streak rolled on into Tuesday’s first inning, as the UO third baseman’s two-out single sparked a two-run rally for the Ducks (30-22). The Bulldogs (23-25) rallied for four in the second off Oregon starter Kohl Hostert, but the UO bullpen shut down Gonzaga the rest of the way, and the Ducks fought back from the 4-2 deficit. The Ducks turn to freshman left-hander Jacob Corn (3-0, 4.44) to close out the midweek series with Gonzaga on Tuesday in PK Park at 6 p.m.

De Carolis said he will leave his position on June 30. “There is never an optimal time for decisions like this, especially after 17 years of a journey,” De Carolis said. “However, I believe we are in the best possible position in Oregon State University’s history to have success on and off the field.
