Oregon Resources Corporation, located in Coos Bay, Bunker Hill, operates a heavy mineral sand processing mill located at 63776 Mullen Rd. in Coos Bay. The raw sand originates from deposits extracted from Cape Arago area mines on the southwest Oregon coast. ORC receives truck loads of heavy mineral sands and introduces this ore into water-fill tanks to produce a slurry. Following coarse screening to remove oversized materials, silt and clay fines are then removed. The resulting sand slurry is pumped into gravity separation spirals, where the desired Heavy Mineral Concentrate is separated from the lighter fractions. The HMC is then dried and further divided into conducting and non-conducting minerals using electrostatic and magnetic separation processes. The resulting end products are then containerized and shipped. Air emissions from this facility include particulate matter, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, volatile organic compounds, and greenhouse gases. The proposed permit replaces an existing permit issued in September 2010. How do I participate?
