New Coastal Oregon Resource Advisory Council Meeting, Nov. 12

The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) new Coastal Oregon Resource Advisory Council (RAC) will meet on Thursday, November 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Coos Bay District Office, 1300 Airport Lane, North Bend, Oregon. The Coastal Oregon RAC meeting is open to the public, with a public comment period offered from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is primarily to orient the 15 RAC members to their new role and the programs of the BLM. The RAC members represent a variety of interest areas, including the timber industry, outdoor recreation, elected officials, Tribes, and environmental organizations. The geographic boundaries of the RAC include Clatsop, Tillamook, Lincoln, Lane, Coos, and Curry Counties in the Salem, Eugene, and Coos Bay BLM Districts. The Coastal Oregon RAC serves in an advisory capacity to the BLM concerning the planning and management of public lands within its geographic boundary. The RAC will also recommend restoration and maintenance projects to the BLM under Title II of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self Determination Act, as well as recommend changes to the BLM’s recreation fee program as authorized under the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act.
