Sanitary Sewer Overflow, Dec. 10

News release from the City of Coos Bay. On Wednesday, December 9, 2015, the City of Coos Bay experienced a sanitary sewer overflow of raw sewage from a manhole in the alley at 579 S. Broadway. The overflow was caused by heavy flows resulting from a high rain event. The Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) event began at 1:00 am and subsided at 4:00 am. A total of 24,000 gallons of raw sewage was reported to Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, Oregon Emergency Response System, and Oregon Department of Agriculture regarding this event.
